Privacy Officer

Hunkemöller is looking for a Privacy Officer to support our legal department.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the organization’s privacy program. You will play an important role in ensuring that our data handling practices comply with relevant privacy laws and regulations and make sure the right documentation is in place. Overall, you will need to stay updated on evolving privacy laws and regulations and continuously improve privacy policies and practices in response to changing legal and organizational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Advise colleagues with respect to data privacy to promote compliance with global data protection laws
• Review, analyze, and complete privacy assessments and privacy-related inquiries.
• Research and monitor changes in laws, regulations, and best business practices related to data protection and privacy, and communicate internally, proposing risk mitigation strategies and changes to our policies and guidelines accordingly.
• Advise on privacy issues related to new products and services.
• Lead the response to data breaches and privacy incidents, coordinating with Legal, IT, and other relevant departments to mitigate risks and ensure proper reporting to regulatory authorities.
• Manage data subject requests (DSARs), ensuring timely and compliant responses as well as facilitating data subject awareness and rights protection.
• Develop and update the organization’s privacy policies and procedures to align with relevant data protection laws and regulations and that it is clear, accessible, and well-communicated to employees and stakeholders.
• Conduct regular privacy risk assessments and gap analyses.
• Oversee the collection, storage, and processing of personal and sensitive data to ensure compliance with data protection principles and implement and maintain data protection measures, including encryption, access controls, and data retention policies.
• Develop and deliver privacy training programs for employees to ensure awareness and adherence to privacy policies and promote a culture of privacy throughout the organization.
• Keep incident response plan for data breaches and privacy incidents up-to-date and report.
• Maintain records of privacy-related activities, incidents and compliance efforts.

About you:

You are critical, have a hands-on mentality, be analytical, have problem-solving abilities and have excellent communication- and training skills.

• Privacy experience with a minimum of 4 years of experience
• A completed WO education, preferably with a law degree focused on privacy.
• Relevant privacy certification (CIPP, CIPM)
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments and teams and move well within a fast-growing organization in a continuously changing industry.
• Experience with privacy platforms (e.g. OneTrust)
• Excellent command of English and Dutch
• Ability to translate the legal data protection obligations in the context of the services the company provides
• Strong understanding of data security, risk management, and compliance practices
• In-depth knowledge of data protection laws and regulations
